Released; Two MSF Aid Workers Freed in Somalia

Original Source: MSF.org & MSF Spain [Spanish language]

Doctors Without Borders - Medicos Sin Fronteras (MSF) confirms the release of two Spanish aid workers Montserrat Serra and Blanca Thiebaut, kidnapped 13 October 2011 in Dadaab refugee camp in Kenya by Somali gang.

It is with great relief that MSF confirms the release of both aid workers are in good health, safe and are waiting to join with their loved ones as soon as possible. An MSF team is providing all necessary support to Mone and Blanca and their families, and working hard for the return to their homes is to occur soon. MSF reiterates its call to the media and the public to respect the privacy of the released pair and their families during this process of adaptation to life in freedom once more.

The international medical humanitarian organization appreciates the efforts of all involved in the release of Blanca and Mone. Again, MSF condemns attacks on aid workers providing such medical assistance to the most vulnerable Somalis fleeing hunger and conflict.

MSF will organise a press conference tomorrow, Friday 19 July 2013 at 12 CET in Madrid, with MSF President in Spain Jose Antonio Bastos as spokesperson.. The organisation will not give interviews or any declarations out of this press conference in which journalists will be able to ask question of the President. The press conference will be held at MSF Office in Madrid c/ Melendez Valdes 72, 1A.
