The Seychellois Coast Guard team visited both the navigation and mechanical engineering departments and whilst there were given briefings and demonstrations on equipment, as well as the techniques and procedures to ensure safety of navigation.  This type of engagement is important as it enables not only a sharing of information, but also helps to generate discussions concerning best practice and procedures in these important areas.

This event was co-ordinated by staff from EUCAP NESTOR, a civilian led mission that aims to work with the other EU missions, such as EU NAVFOR, and regional states to strengthen regional maritime security and capabilities.

The Portuguese frigate NRP Álvares Cabral joined the EU’s counter piracy mission – Operation Atalanta on 6th April and is the current EU NAVFOR Flagship until 6th August.
