A vessel flying the Luxembourg flag has been attacked by pirates 50 nautical miles from Singapore.
According to the Luxembourg government, the Bourbon Liberty 308, an offshore anchor handling tug vessel built in Ningbo, China in 2013, managed by Bourbon Offshore MMI DMCEST (Dubia, UAE), a subsidiary of the French group Bourbon, was attacked by pirates on Saturday, 30 March, some 50nm off the north-east coast of Singapore in the South China Sea.
Reportedly, pirates boarded the vessel and left several hours later, presumably after robbing the crew and stealing vessel’s valuables. No-one among the 14 crew members, which included one Ukrainian and 13 Indian nationals, was injured. After a few hours, the ship is reported to have continued its way to port in Singapore.
Luxembourg was informed of the attack by the Bourbon group and the situation is being closely monitored by the company and local maritime authorities.
Last known position of Bourbon Liberty 308 on 1 April was Keppel, Singapore.
